I have been using Bookshelf for a few months now and it works great on my iPhone 6s. There is a wide selection of books available for down load. The app is easy to use and there when I need it. I am able to pick up where I leave off when ever I have time to read.
This is one of the best Church apps Ive seen.
I have had issues with the app, but it is a lot better with this last update after installing IOS 9. There is still a few issues,but it is better than any other book app that I have. I have at least 4 different book apps. This is the one I use about 95% of the time. If there is an issue they try to solve it. The only thing that would make it better is to allow the reader to adjust the size of the print on the page more than it does now. Hope they keep improving how it runs. I really wish they would do this. My other book apps do it and it makes reading easier. Not everyone can read the print when the lines are so close together in some books. The only real issue I have is sometimes it wont download the cover of a book and then it becomes a pain. Thank you for all your hard work.
I love the book shelf app! I can carry an entire library around at the tip of my fingers! Thank you for making reading fun again!
I love the app, and the feature that shows the quote of the day in the Today view on my phone- but the quote never loads. It disappoints me every time I see that, because it Could be so amazing, and would get me into the app more. Ill probably just have to remove it.

I would love it if they fixed this one things. When you close the app and open it again, the book you are reading does not stay on the page you left of on. It goes back to the beginning of the chapter.
I agree with dan11s review dated Feb 10, 2016. Audio listening apps like audible.com and OverDrive work so well...and Deseert Bookshelf works so poorly. The buttons are often non-responsive, the app continually goes backwards anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes when I stop listening and then later restart, and its very slow to begin when I first start listening. Its as if no one actually tested the app to listen to audio books. My comments only apply to using the app to listen to audio books as I have not used it much to read ebooks.

This app has some serious problems and shuts down on me constantly. I dont like the change when you have several books open and you made it with a number in the right so you click on it and then click on the book. I liked it when you had the books across the top. When you have a large section of a book you can hardly scroll a trying to bring down the scroll line is difficult. Every time you change your program I loose my study books and it usually crashes and has to be reloaded and all your books downloaded. You should have a tab what is new and why you change everything. You start using it and it changes. Please make it stable and speed it up. They have worked on most all of the original problems that plagued this program and it works quite well now. One very nice feature that they still havent cared to fix was to allow you to highlight the headings, this can be done I used a program that allowed you to do this. It would also be nice to be able to highlight your own notes that you have entered.
I want to like this app but it just doesnt work. Its not user friendly.
I give this app a 5 but to day I opened up my app and its black. Nothing, I have bought a lot of books I love to read, I need advise how to make it recover and work again.
We have all spent HUNDREDS AND THOUSANDS of dollars on ebooks to read through this app!! AND MOST OF THE TIME IT DOESNT WORK! I teach Sunday School and all my expensive scripture commentaries are on this app and THEY DONT WORK HALF THE TIME! With all the resources you have I think its fair so say get your best programmers on the job to fix this app. If Amazon did this theyd be out of business. I have called about this, I have written, and today it behaved worse than the most rebellious child. How about this - give me a refund for all my ebooks. Can you tell Im angry? FIX YOUR APP!!!!!!!

Ive had this app forever, but it recently just stopped working. I open it, it opens and then immediately shuts down. I have the latest version, but that doesnt seem to matter. Like the other reviewer, I have several hundred dollars worth of books on this app, but cant open anything to read them.someone fix it! :)
I just recently started using the DB e-reader. I have been a Barnes and Noble e-reader user for many years. I just happened to be on the DB website looking for a book for my Mom-in-law and noticed the e-book was much cheaper than the same e-book from Barnes and Noble. I downloaded the app and am now on my second book. I love the app. The only things I would change would be for the app to open up to directly where I left off, and to have it open up to the brightness settings, as I use the very lightest night setting because I read at night. Other than that, I am sold. The e-books are much cheaper than Barnes and Noble.
Unusable on a iPad lately. Bookshelf doesnt even rate one star of late. Never came close to Kindle reader at best.
Update March 9... This piece of junk still isnt reliable in downloading audio content. I purchased a new audiobook (I dont know when I will learn better than to continue to spend $ on content trapped in this program) and tried to download. Some chapters worked ok so I quit watching. When I went back several chapters had loaded an several had not. Not a sequence issue some earlier and some later chapters loaded. Others had the time in red. I guess that is supposed to mean error. Then trying to get them to continue was difficult and unintuitive. I probable have spent $800+ on their content. Will they ever learn to design or test? Free my content. Offer via audible. At least I didnt get on a plane expecting this to be there. Update March 2016. In the Russian roulette called updating Deseret bookshelf so far this one doesnt appear to be a step backwards. This app so regularly disappoints with content loss and app failures. I have lose count of how many times this app has failed on long plane flights leaving me with 10+ hours of lost time. Update feb 2016. Arggg. Again audio loading problems are back. All my Lds audio trapped on a buggy program. Please get some beta testers and a regression test baseline. Or just use audible.com for audio and kindle for ebooks. Update dec 2015. Thank you for fixing the critical defects. Please implement a beta program. Fixed: It still crashes upon startup at times...when it starts crashing like that it requires deleting and reinstall. When on plane or on international data plan this is a nightmare since any books require reloading too... Fixed: The last update lost most of my MP3 books. So plane trip was wasted. Also the iOS function to convert text to speech doesnt work. On kindle iOS can read as long as I want it too. The reason for buying from this app rather than kindle is generally lower cost for content. I would provide beta test and feedback if I could see how to do do..
Worked great for awhile. Now it wont open, wont update, cant be deleted. Great to have a ton of ebooks purchased that now I cant access. Does anyone at Deseret Book care?
